Rapid Urban Modelling

Date: Tuesday 10th October at 7:30pm
Presenter: Dr Robert Laycock, University of East Anglia
Venue: Room DAV014, Anglia Ruskin University, East Rd, Cambridge CB1 1PT
Synopsis: Recent work by the Urban Modelling Group in the School of Computing Science at UEA has successfully produced automatic urban modelling software based on Ordnance survey, Lidar and photographic data for building structure and texture. With this software we are able to create accurate virtual models without the slow manual process involved with modelling packages such as 3DStudioMax. This talk will describe the process and demonstrate the results with example animations of sections of the Norwich model. It will also briefly introduce the group's latest research into real time crowd rendering for urban models.
