Code Makers vs. Code Breakers: Who wins?

Date: Thursday 19th June 2008, 7pm for 7:30pm
Presenter: Prof. Fred Piper, Director of the Information Security Group at Royal Holloway
Venue: David Building, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge Campus, East Road, Cambridge, CB1 1PT
Synopsis: The last few decades have seen Cryptography transformed from being a black art to a popular science.
After a brief introduction to the subject we will give a brief history of cryptography to see how/why this has happened. (This will, of course, include the massive influence of computers!) We will also look at some political and business impacts and do a little crystal ball gazing.

Professor Piper has kindly made the slides from his lecture available to download. They are in Microsoft PowerPoint format.
